Perfect for Brother in Assisted Living

This particular Lift Recliner has everything he might need. With the chair, it lifts his body up to a standing position. At that point, he is able to get into his wheelchair or walker. The Heat and Massage feature is loved by the recipient. He has had it one week, and still learning how to turn off the Heat and Massage features.

Great chair for a great price!

I’ve never provided a review before but since I bought this chair based solely on reviews, I feel the need to pay it forward. My 93 year old grandmother who weighs about 95lbs and is under 5 feet, recently entered assisted living. She needed a recliner/lift chair since her old recliners were wore out and manually operated. I searched and searched my local areas only to be told we would have to order a chair which would take 6 weeks to 6 months and the power/lift chairs started around $1500 and up, which is way out of my social security living grandma’s budget. She thought $350 would get her a nice chair and maybe it would but she needs a power/lift chair or at least powered and those are not within her budget. We bought her a power recliner, but it was firmer than she wanted, and she was just too small for it and she didn’t like it. So, with her move in date approaching, I was in a pinch to find her a recliner that wasn’t too big for her, powered, in stock and within her budget. I checked my local furniture stores and found nothing, and I did want to see/sit in the chair before buying but I quickly realized that wasn’t going to happen. It’s really hard to buy something like this sight unseen/un-sat in but I had no choice. So, I turned to and found the listing for this chair. I read the dimensions and all the features it had (lift, power, heat, massage) and saw the price and thought ‘no way.’ No way that chair is $549. I had found manual recliners for twice the price of this chair and some power lift recliners that started at $2,000. I read through the reviews and found reviewers indicating they purchased the chair for a loved one in assisted living who were petite and didn’t weigh more than a wet feather and thought “Hmmm, this sounds really familiar.” So, after I had read all the reviews, I crossed my fingers, said a prayer to the chair and senior gods and performed a ‘please let this chair work’ dance that I made up in my living room and bought the chair. I bought it on a Saturday, and it arrived on Tuesday, for which I was super thankful. I unboxed the chair and was really happy with how soft the faux leather was and the color was definitely more of a cream than a white. (You can see how the color of the chair changes depending on light. The first picture the chair looks more white. There was natural light coming in from a high up window. And in the second picture the chair is in grams apartment under fluorescent lighting and it looks cream/yellowy). My husband and I partially put it together (we didn’t attach the back to the base all the way) to make sure it worked. I sat down on the chair and sank about 2-3” so it is soft and cushiony. I’m 5’6” and I think I fit in the chair but barely. I wouldn’t think anyone taller than me would be comfortable. The recommended height is 4’6” – 5’2” but you can probably use it for a slightly taller person but not much. We plugged the chair in and made sure the chair reclined/lifted and heat/massage worked. Then we took the chair apart and re boxed everything for transport to my grandmother’s apartment. When we got there, the chair arms went on easily. You just have the keep the tracks aligned. The back was the hardest part. We had to use some pliers to squeeze the tabs in so the back metal sleeves could slide over the tabs (on the base) then we used a rubber mallet to hammer the back down. On move in day, gram was pretty upset but when she calmed down, I got her to sit in the chair. She moved all around, used the remote to lift her legs and herself. So, I asked, “Do you love the chair?” and she said, “What’s not to like about it?” Not what I wanted to hear so I asked again, “Do you love the chair?” and she said “Yes. I love it.” This from a woman who is pretty hard to please given her age and physical condition which is simply skin and bone. The only improvements I can think of is to offer some more colors and make it a tri-power so that head part lifts up. Or at least make another version to get the tri-powered feature. Overall, I am really pleased with the look, feel and features of this chair for the price. I took a gamble buying something like this online but I’m glad I did, and I owe it to all of the those who leave honest reviews. So, here’s my honest review. Hopefully, this will help someone else who is desperate to find a power recliner/lift for the petite barely there senior in their life.
