Surprisingly well-built, solidly engineered, easy assembly

Easy to assemble. I did it myself As youve likely noticed, there are scores of inexpensive beds on . Since no one wants to return something that large, choosing a quality product feels like a gamble. I rolled the dice on this bed, and was very pleasantly surprised by the outcome. We bought this $200 bed for our teenage son, and it feels as well-made as our $1500 bed, The solid-wood boards, the screw receptacles in the boards, the hardware -- all feel solid and well-engineered. The instructions are simple, and although it takes a good hour to put it together, there is no ambiguity; everything is well-labeled and fits with clean tolerances. There are nice touches, too: velcro to hold the slats, precision-cut joints, and a sticky surface on two of the slats to help hold the mattress in place. I can offer a couple of assembly tips: (1) As others have noted, dont fully tighten all the screws until youre ready to mount the slats (this will help you true the bed to square, and (2) If you have trouble mating the screws to the four corner feet, try slightly adjusting the angle of the foot until you can start to hand-thread each screw. The only minor shortcoming was the platform slats themselves -- they are softwood of some kind (good, because they flex appropriately with the mattress movements), but they are finished roughly, and I found several slivers on the edges. Budget an extra 15 minutes to sand down the slats, and if your experience is like mine, youll end up with a lovely platform bed. Hats off to the company for a great design and a high-quality, high-value product.
