It is nice and real wood but you will have to shellac the top
I love the look of this dresser but they put the glossy side on the bottom of the top, so now I'm going to have to put something on the top my self to make it waterproof, and some of the drawers are a few millimeters too low so the drawer is bumping the drawer below it, if you need something nice that is cheap for kids room that's probably just going to get drawn on and stickers put on this is the dressier for you, but if you can afford to put a little bit more money into it get something nicer for an adult's room I would
