it's not really easy to assemble. I prefer instructions with text. Nothing is marked on these pieces. Markings always makes assembly much simpler. We did manage to assemble but both pieces do not line up properly on the right side (I purchased two night tables). This is after two attempts on each unit. The result is a rickety piece and in addition one of the drawers came chipped on the right side.
I have assembled four items in the past week and had no problem with any - up until I got these. I would not suggest these.

I have since taken the pieces apart (partially) and managed to get it together properly.
I suspect the instructions were not really sufficient - in addition I used liquid nails .. that also helped.
in the end the product does line up and no longer rickety.

I am back again: I managed to make this item look way more expensive that it is. I purchased Miniwax high gloss clear polyurethane and also a decent brush both at home depot. price for the poly was under $7. price for brush approx $1.15. it went on smoothly and real easy.
it makes the item much more attractive, more resilient - I can place almost anything on the tops w/o concern now that it's got the clear gloss polyurethane.
the small can goes a very long way. I covered two night tables and a desk and still have nearly half a can.
