Lot of options out there. This one had a reasonable price, good reviews and weighed under 100 lbs. I am older so unpacked it on the back deck and carried it upstairs piecemeal, which took a few trips. Assembly instructions are all illustrations, no text beyond part markings (A, B, 1, 2, etc). Hardware packaged perfectly with an actual ratchet wrench instead of the usual single Allen hex wrench. One mistake on the first headboard attachment (I put it on the wrong side - easy fix); the rest was a breeze. The slats are held in place with both velcro and dowels. I did not peel off the paper to secure the mattress as it is a king and I was concerned I would not be able to slide it into place. Looks beautiful, exactly what I wanted. Center support rail is metal with 3 metal padded feet. This is a great bed. I took my time and spent perhaps 45 minutes all told assembling. Can't say enough good about the included ratchet wrench.
