This island, (black+stainless top), was 70USD cheaper then the mostly similar island it replaced. It had a better top (though there are still faint machine marks you can wet/sand/polish away) and the casters and base are much sturdier, making carpet maneuvers much more manageable.
While the press/board is what it is, this is a very dense thick board, blemish free and packed very efficiently. (my delivery came in perfect order).
You can put as many heavy glass bottles as you like on the shelves (upright only) and the three stacked drawers are very deep and will hold plenty of things. The back panel isnt cardboard, it is presentable and plain. The included hardware is also acdeptable. Assembly is a resepectable effort and you need strength to close those nifty thumb latches (no twistlock cams, yay!) so the unit is secured along the edges.
If you like the style this island has plenty of functional room (you can even hang pot and pans from the side/bars) and is also a very presentable piece of furmiture. Who knows about durability with manufactured wood, but the finished product seems as good as it gets with compacted sawdust! Great Value.
