We chose the simulated leather because we thought that the indoor cats might not try to make a scratching post out of it. What we did not realize is that the simulated leather is so slick that my mom quickly began to slide during the lift assist. Our solution was to purchase a rubber mat. You can see it in the picture. If you feel that the material is going to create a slippery condition for your frail family member, perhaps choose a cloth covering or be prepared to buy a non slick rug.
This chair has two cup holders on each arm, but because the chair tilts forwards and backwards you do not want to place a FULL glass of water in these spots. Just saying. I like the sturdiness and comfort of this product.
