Let me begin by saying that after assembly this chair looks nothing like the picture. Its out of balance and leans too far back so that your feet are in the air, and I am 5.9 so I can only imagine how it is for folks who are not that tall. I needed a rocking chair for a nursery. This was a last minute purchase, and I didnt have the time dealing with returns and clearly couldnt leave it the way it was since I would be seating up and down with a baby in my arms so I needed something well balanced. If you are in the same place as me, there is good news! You can adjust it by lowering the seat frame so that it rests right on the wooden bar that connects the legs/arm rests of the chair. The back part of the frame is mounted as specified in the instructions. And voila... you have a perfectly balanced chair. You should be able to see it from the pictures too. Good luck!
