When my mom went to and looked at the Storkcraft glider I had put on my baby registry, she declared it a piece of junk and told me to order something nicer and shed pay. After lots of research I decided on this glider, sight unseen. It arrived in the mail last week with the box pretty beaten up, but the chair otherwise intact and looking great. I loved that it was as simple as removing from the box and placing it where we wanted.
Even though our baby isnt due until next month and weve only had this chair for a week, Im impressed with it. It seems to be built very sturdy. Im a larger woman (59 and 230 lbs at 8 months pregnant) and I fit just fine. I was concerned if this would be more of a rock vs. glide action based on some reviews, but this definitely glides. The gliding is very smooth and quiet. The swivel motion is also effortless and smooth. We got the slate color which is a darker gray. Its not too dark, and not too light. The fabric is VERY soft to the touch, but feels substantial. The seat cushion seems to be a high density foam that will last (time will tell!). As other reviews indicate, you can see the metal tracking underneath the chair. This doesnt bother me one bit.
This chairs seat is a tad low for my tastes, but its definitely in the acceptable range of seat height. I prefer higher chairs and beds, so this is really a personal preference. As others have stated, this chair is not ideal for sleeping in. Id recommend a small lumbar pillow to use with it. The seat is comfortable as is, but a small back pillow would help with comfort if you choose to slouch down and attempt to sleep in it.
I love that this chair can be put in our bedroom or living room when our baby grows out of it. Overall, even though weve only owned this chair for a week or so it seems to be sturdy, good looking, and well-built. I have no reservations that it wont last for years to come.
So Far...Love It
