You need two people to assemble. There is only one 1.7 inch x 1.7 inch wooden support that runs end to end on the bed and the wooden lattices are on top, screwed into each side. I will likely be replacing the wooden support with a steel alternative as the bed seems flimsy at the moment. Other than that, assembly had it's awkward moments and the clarity of the instructions needs improvement. My 7 year old loves it and it was exactly as we expected with a lovely space under the bed for him to create a 'chill zone'. I give it a 4 but it would have been a 5 is the support beam was a steel or metal option.
We love it but......
