I bought this because I could not make my mind up on a more expensive piece to replace my old TV/Entertainment stand. It is a study piece for the price, and serves its purpose well. The charcoal is the same color as shown on --I had hoped it would be a bit lighter in color. The vinyl/paper laminate layer is not very sturdy if something abrades the edges; I resolved the scratches using a black permanent marker and they are not visible. It was not difficult to put together, just time-consuming because of all the hardware that makes it sturdy. It is a good interim piece.
