Some assembly required is an understatement as this bed is in many pieces. Based on the limited assembly instructions you need to be very careful using the assembly materials. The parts are very light. Once the bed was assembled it seemed decently sturdy. The paint job on the headboard and footboard left much to be desired as the connection ends were not painted smoothly.
