Bought the TwinXL and couldnt be happier! This is high quality wood! Took me about 40 minutes from start to finish, but I am a pretty handy guy. Watch the assembly video and you will be fine, even if you arent overly handy. Some folks mentioned the protruding screw heads on the mattress side. The sellers now include countersunk screws rather than pan heads, so they will probably screw in flush now and no longer protrude. I say probably because I grabbed my drill and spent the two minutes putting an actual countersink in the hole. It probably wasnt necessary, but it was so easy I did it anyway.
I considered glueing the frame together, but when I saw how tight the dowels fit (yes, a rubber mallet comes in handy) I decided not to bother. Everything went together very tight and there is no noise whatsoever. Another issue some people mentioned was that some of the holes were not aligned. This was done on purpose! Yes, some of the holes to put the screws into are not perfectly centered with the piece of wood you are screwing it into, but that is because they purposefully offset the holes so they were not right next to the holes for the dowels. Too many holes right next to each other makes for a weak spot. Ill admit I was a little worried about how far over they were, but it was fine. Nothing cracked out or split. I did however ever predrill those holes even though the screws are self tapping and I recommend doing the same if you have a drill. Otherwise, dont worry about it, it will be fine, just go slow and rub a little soap on the screw for lubrication.
I didnt bother finishing the wood as it looks great as is and is mostly hidden anyway. If you did want to finish it, it could use a little extra sanding on the corners, but nothing major at all.
Overall I am quite impressed with this bed! Great to support a US company also!
