The door definitely needs a nailing plate to screw the top and bottom of it together. Was far too easy to go through the wood to the outside when trying to toenail the two pieces together. The wood is not thick enough to prevent that, and we actually had to use longer screws and cut 2 of them off to make it work. We are experienced DIYs so someone with less experience would have even a tougher time. Looks nice when all together though. Too short for a broom but we didnt want a tall one, so were ok with that. Love the looks of it.
