Honestly, this product has exceeded my expectations for the price. Our main problem was that it looks like someone properly made the drawings in the instructions, and then realized that some of the holes which tell you how to orient the pieces are on the BACK of the piece in the image, and thus not visible, so they went back in and drew them in with a pencil. The holes that are solid on the drawings should be visible, while the soft gray ones are actually on another side of the part. That said, we figured it out and the only thing we had to take apart and put back together correctly was the very first part we built.
My husband likes that the rungs of the stairs are welded, not screwed on. I think the rungs are too narrow, and find them painful on bare feet.
We got a strip light for the underside, a magnetic whiteboard, and one of those key hook things you put on the wall by the front door to hang on the random board attached to the desk. The desk itself really needs some support underneath, and will NOT support much weight, but the shelves are sturdy. We used an 8 memory foam mattress, instead of the 6, and I am satisfied with the height of the railing. We used the cardboard shipping box under the mattress to give it just a little bit of support.
Make sure you include the weight of the MATTRESS when youre deciding if this will work for you. Unfortunately, with the mattress weight, my daughter and I cant lie in this bed together (yay quarantine weight).
All good except the instructions
