First off: assembly. The directions say it takes an hour and a half. Maybe if you're a carpenter. It took me three hours: mostly because the directions try to pack too many steps into one step per page, so be careful there. Notice EVERY LITTLE STEP within the one step so you won't find yourself undoing work you struggled to complete in the first place.
Secondly: the top surface of the island is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP. It's a faux stainless steel that streaks and looks gross. Worst than that, the base of the surface (that connects to the island itself) is made out of this weird plastic product that has this perpetual chemical smell (somewhat between the smell of a cheap Barbie doll hair that has been melted and faint aroma of fingernail polish remover). Every time I walk into the house or by the island, I can smell it and it makes my nose burn just a bit. It makes me wonder what I'm inhaling on a daily basis.
If it wasn't so hard to disassemble and repackage, I would send it back. My only saving grace is that I hope to be moving soon and I will just leave it, but not worth the money or effort to put it together. If you want a quality piece in your kitchen, keep looking.
It's alright but disappointing
