We purchased this set for our backyard. It is an appealing design and nice color. The chairs are comfortable, and the table is a good height for seated dining. I am experienced DIY, yet I found the product assembly to be quite challenging, at times frustrating.
It took about 30 minutes just to remove the packaging used to protect the paint finishes. Assembly took over 2 hours. The instruction manual was well/illustrated, and all parts (including fasteners) were labeled, making it easy to understand the assembly process. However, in some instances portions of the chair frames may have been out of alignment because it was exceptionally difficult to start the threads of mating fasteners. After struggling to fully assemble the first chair, I chose to loosely assemble all of the fasteners before going back to tighten each one. This technique proved helpful, allowing me to compensate for frame misalignment. Still, some of the chair frame components proved most difficult to fasten together because of difficulty aligning the bolt with the nut that is embedded into the frame. There are 10 bolts required per chair, and NO extra fasteners are provided. If you misplace or strip one, you could be on your way to the hardware store. Although a 2/1/2 Allen wrench is provided, it is woefully inadequate for speeding through assembly. Fortunately, I had a small ratchet with an Allen head that I used to improve the process considerably.
From a structural standpoint, the steel slat table and fauxwicker plastic webbing seem capable of withstanding the elements; however, the chairs are held together by just a few bolts, receiving no supplemental support from interlocking components or bracing. Because the steel chair frames are not consistently well/fabricated, some are out of alignment, and in some instances, the bolts are exposed. Had I known this before ordering the product, I dont think that I would have made the purchase, especially since this outdoor furniture is exposed to the elements, where a rusted bolt could result in a chair collapse, possibly injury.
If you have someone to assemble this product for you, and your expectations of lasting durability are modest, this might be a good product to consider. Otherwise, you might take a pass. Overpriced.
