So happy I found this table! (Even if its slightly smaller than 42 wide x 60 long)
I had almost the same table, which I brought back from Paris where I had lived for 20 years. But if you so much as put any weight on one half of the table, youve got a wobbly table on your hands or rather under your elbows. In short, it was always rickety, hardly a desirable quality in any piece of furniture.
For the longest time I put up with it since my dining room is relatively small, whereas my dining chairs did go with that table.
Then I decided to see if I couldnt do better, so to speak, and was thrilled to see this particular model on offer here. Upon reading various reviews which talked about the saddle brown color being more red or closer to cherry, I decided to take a chance and bingo, I couldnt be happier!
Not only is the color a very close match for my existing dining chairs, this new table is actually far better constructed. The pedestal itself is much more robust, while the tabletop is obviously of much better quality, too.
In fact, the tabletop is so heavy that I couldnt even get it out of the box by myself, and had to call for reinforcement! So definitely a 2-person assembly job, unless youre Hercules.
Now that my dining room is positively elegant, I will no longer be embarrassed to host dinner guests!
Only potential caveat: the size of this table is NOT 42 inches wide x 60 inches long per se with the extension leaf, but rather 41-1/4 inches (105 cm) wide x 59 inches (150 cm). This is perfectly fine for my purposes, especially since my old table was almost 10 cm or 4 inches wider, which actually made my dining room feel a bit tight. But now everything in my dining room feels just right, and none too soon!
