Perhaps the greatest futon in the history of our country.
This futon isnt perfect, but I cant imagine anything better for even twice the price. I have the black suede version and love it.
Lets start with my few complaints:
1. It isnt super durable. Ive owned it for just over a year and it is falling apart (but I am a pretty big guy so you may not have this problem). The hinges for the back broke and i had to prop the back up with a metal brace. Internal boards in the base have splintered or broken. That said, it is comfy and good looking enough that Ive ordered a replacement. I have a sheet of plywood that Ill be using to reinforce the internal boards, frame, and back, so I expect this 2nd one to last for several years.
2. It feels too low to the ground and seems like it is pitched forward. I ordered a set of these for the front legs to remedy the situation perfectl.
3. Dont sit in the middle. this futon ships in two halves which attach in the middle and the result is that theres a board very thinly cushioned. If you lay on this, scoot your bottom north or south of center unless you want your hip to hate you the next day. This is the only reason I didnt give 5 stars on comfort.
Now for the praise:
1. Sooo comfy to sit on! I wouldnt really call it memory foam, but the cushioning and springs have just the right amount of give. Im 61 and over 250 and h ave no complaints.
2. Pretty darn good to sleep on, too. As previously mentioned, though, avoiding hip contact with the center beam is key.
3. The arms that fold down on the sides are great. They make a good armrest in the up position, and are pretty excellent for zzz with one left in the half/up position (youll still want a pillow, though).
4. Just look at it. Pretty sleek for a futon.
5. Epstein didnt kill himself.
