Great Price on a Decent / Functional / Attractive product with some Quality Issues.
Not as easy as people say. My opinion of this products is that it is a good overall value. 3 Stars for the following reasons: 1/2 Star deduction for poor instructions. 1/2 Star deduction for quality of materials. 1/2 Star deduction for product Specs discovered in the manuals (see below). 1/2 Star deduction for how challenging it was to assemble.
As noted by other reviewers, this product is a challenge to assemble. It took 2 people and a third helper just over 2 hours to fully assemble and that was using power tools (i.e. a cordless driver and drill combo). We found that the easiest way to line up the slats in the frame was to lay the top and bottom rails flat and work your way along. If we had followed the instructions, it would have been much more difficult. This bed frame uses wooden dowels in addition to long metal screws to assemble. I needed a drill/bit to route/out several of the frame pieces because the holes for the dowels were poorly manufactured. Not all that hard to do, but speaks to quality. The wood itself is a softish material and probably low quality pine, as a result the individual pieces lack the heft that you might expect in a bed that is designed to accommodate a Full/Size mattress. The plastic bands used for shipping compressed the wood in a couple of places as a result of the quality of the materials. I put those on the back so they wont be noticeable, but still it takes away from overall satisfaction. There were a few pieces that had exterior imperfections in the finish. Again, not noticeable as they are in the underside of the product but same feeling as to product quality.
We were very disappointed to learn, on the very last page of the instructions, that the weight capacity of this bed is 220 lbs. We are using this in a teenager bedroom, so it will be acceptable, but if you are planning on using this for a guest/bedroom and 2 occupants, it may not be suitable for your needs. We had an available bunky/board to put on top of the slats. which added both support and stiffness for placing the mattress directly on top vs directly on the slats (which I suspect would have issues of sagging if you didnt have something on top of the slats). One note regarding the mattress height: We put a 12 mattress onto the frame. The pictures in the listing must include a very thin mattress indeed to expose the framing slats as it does. The 12 mattress reaches to the top of the side supports. This is merely an observation so that youll realize what it might look like once assembled and a mattress is added.
Overall, we are satisfied with this product. Once fully assembled, it is reasonably sturdy. Compared to products found in large discount warehouses I think the price cant be beat, and I expect it will serve its purpose nicely for years to come. Happy Hunting.
