It took my husband just under an hour to assemble it by himself. He said if you go step/by/step and lay out all your pieces, its pretty easy. The desk area itself is plenty big without taking up a lot of real estate in your room / I have three computers, a lamp, an office supplies caddy, a file folder holder, and about 5 used coffee cups on my desk and theres still plenty of room for activities. The cubbies arent very big, but enough to hold books sideways, or to house small objects. The desk is SOLID / no jiggling, very level, feels like you could get up and stand on it if you wanted (I dont). Super happy with it.
