Lower height, loungey look. May be difficult for people under 5 10 and for knee/back problems.

Just unboxed my 89 sofa in brown leather. Pros: Looks good, easy assembly, comfortable for me (510) and it was available, which is unusual for this point in the pandemic. (Sept. 2021.) Cons: Lower than I expected. This couchs seat is just under 17, which is about two inches lower than traditional height chairs. The back cushions are even lower, about 32 high, which is about six to eight inches below traditional heights. Let me highlight the drawbacks, below. Neutral: The seats are very deep: 26 as opposed to traditional at 18 to 22. For shorter people, this may be a negative. Looking online, this low furniture trend has been going on for a while. It is a bit of a callback to the 70s and is attractive to urban and younger buyers. So, the lowness is surprising for an old guy like me, but the sofa is attractive. Enough so that Ive just purchased a matching chair. I dont find the sofa difficult to get out of, but my knees and back are generally okay. Ive read other reviews saying it is difficult to stand up. On the other hand, the Chicago Tribune article mentioned that the low height is easier for children. And it will be good for my older dog, but Ill need to be sure to protect the leather from his scratching. The problem I envision is for people under 5 10. The lower lower height would be beneficial for short people, but combine that with the deep seats. Im 5 10 and when I sit in this couch, Im leaning back a little before my back is supported. Anyone shorter would either have to sit unsupported, lean back more or sit with unbent legs, with knees fully on the cushion. For people much shorter than average, that situation will be familiar. For people maybe 5 3 to 59, it would be more of a surprise. The Tribune article talks about the low seating having a, loungey, casual look. The measurements above really support that, since having your back (let alone your head) supported will require leaning back for anyone under six foot. So, be sure you have an ottoman to support your feet. If you are expecting guests to converse, anyone on these pieces will need to be very casual or willing to sit forward and unsupported. Also, if youre mixing this furniture with traditional height pieces, whomever is in the higher furniture will have a dominant position. If youre interviewing your daughters date or dislike your in-laws, be sure they sit in these pieces. Oh, and the chairs would be great for a boss office. You sit in the office chair and visitors sit in the trendy, comfy-looking leather chairs. It is perfect for a subtle power play... if thats the kind of person you are. So, overall Im giving this couch a four-star review. Thats only because of the above size limitations, which you can now consider fully. If all that doesnt bother you, this seems to be a good piece. Other reviews mention odd sounds when you sit down and color coming off of the leather. I dont have any odd sounds when I sit. Ill update this review if the material doesnt hold up.
