I cant wait to get the loft bed together, but I havent got past steps 1 when I tried to put the screws it called for, they wouldnt tired the wood. So Im still on step 1 . Still need to put the bed together. Ill give an update when I get it together.
Putting this bed together was easy enough. Labels were correct and all the screws came with it. Fits perfect in the room and leaves ample space. Only downside is it’s a bit wobbly.
My daughter loves this bed. It took me quite some time to find an affordable option with enough height underneath for my daughter to stand and play with her kitchen set. In that respect, this bed does quite well.
It came without damage and in the timeframe expected, however, it was utterly without instructions. Not much of a loss considering what other reviewers have said. I used the diagram image from the product photos on the listing to figure out which parts went where and logic did the rest, however, it was a challenge, especially assembling it on my own.
My teen son had to help hold things up when it came to putting the assembled ends together into one piece, but it was otherwise manageable. There was one locknut that was missing the threading, but everything else was as needed. Some of the screws fit very tightly and that was hard on my tendonitis but better a tight fit than too loose.
I do suggest taking the overall height of the bed into account as the room underneath is gained by putting the bed very near the ceiling in a standard home. I have a 10 memory foam mattress on it, and my kindergartner cannot fully sit up in bed because of this, but she can easily get in and out of bed and enjoys the bed emensely.
Speaking of the mattress, they recommend the mattress not be thicker than 6 so that the guard rail will extend high enough over the mattress top to prevent falls, which is uncommon and I hadnt taken note of it before ordering. To make up for this, I ordered and installed a 22 guard rail inside the built in rail and falls are now impossible from the bed surface.
I recommend bolting the bed to the wall on two sides, as near the top as possible for best sturdiness. For me, the included straps werent going to cut it, so adding supports from scrap wood to the upper platform level and using those to bolt to the studs in my daughters room was the safer option. Even without these, her 45lbs wasnt enough to shake the bed, but I still have to climb up to change linens and Im no 45lbs.
And there lies the main downside of loft beds. Making the bed and changing the linens are feats in acrobatics that ought to be employed in training circus performers, or at least used in mommy boot camp. That said, my daughter is very happy with her bed, Ive added a sheer curtain and string lights and she has her private princess oasis.
Id buy from this company again, but be prepared for missing instructions and quality control issues like the locknut in exchange for the price.
Happy with the bed, but we didn’t notice it was damaged until after we put together. Once together, it’s hard to take apart, so we’re stuck with parts of it having dents and scratches. Otherwise the bed is great and pretty sturdy.
