Cute bed for my teen daughter, fairly easy to assemble (she and her friends did it). She has an 8 memory foam/gel mattress and separate topper (also purchases) but the headboard sits high on its leg posts, so there is a pretty significant gap between base and bottom of headboard without a box spring. We will be adding a box spring on top of the wood slats to offset this. Easy enough fix, but just heads up, if your mattress isnt super thick, you may need to add something else to raise it up to meet the headboard or trim down the headboard legs.
This bed is very cute. The twin size made it very easy for my son to have more room to play. What I dont like is how you can see the rails from the headboard but for the price I will just deal with it. Its still a very nice bed.

Bed is very low
You should also get a box spring when using this bed.
