The varnish (chair is quite glossy) has a very strong smell the first week or so. Like nail polish? Distracting, and it cant be good for you.
It might also be a bit flimsy, as it creaks practically right out of the box. I think itll survive a while as an everyday desk chair, but I weight less than 120 lbs., so your mileage may vary.
The seat height is comparable to that of other folding chairs -- that is, lower than that of normal chairs.
But I must say, it looks just like the pictures and is absolutely beautiful.
I really like my chair. It is just what I wanted. The only thing that I was put off by was the odor. It had just been varnished or something and then put in the shipping box. It took a couple of weeks for the odor to dissipate.
I like these chairs. So far they are holding up well and I think they look nicer in the dining room than standard metal fold out chairs. I find they are pretty comfortable too though I havent had to sit on them for hours. A good purchase and a great price. I saw these chairs at a discount store and they cost a lot more than what I paid here.

This bamboo chair is great because it goes with my bamboo table and it is foldable. Perfect for what I need. It is very sturdy and attractive with the bamboo table.
Love the look and reasonably sturdy but arrived with one of the back pieces disconnected. Its an American company and with the borders now it wasnt worth waiting to replace. Too bad
