Well I think you can see my problem here. We assembled this when it came in and had no issues with it up until this last side. The predrilled holes on the other end had lined up perfectly, the rail attached firmly, and my husband who was just happy to be using his drill, had no issues. Then we got to the other side And no matter what angle we turned it, where we moved it, the holes in the plate did not lime up with the predrilled holes We thought this would be no big deal and that we could just make our own holes through it Not so much. This left us with a railing that was hanging downward slightly But SEEMED sturdy. As soon as my 45 pound 5year old sat down on that side of the bed We heard a loud noise and checked Sure enough it had slid down and left nice scratch marks on its way down. This happened 2 says after assembling it. I decided to leave it be until I had time to contact the manufacturer as I didnt have any need to build the trundle bed right away and my kid isnt near heavy enough to break the bed without this railing. Reaching out to the manufacturer to see if we can get a replacement footboard and will update the review if Im able to get the issue resolved
AWESOME!! Ordered this twin bed w/ trundle for a small bedroom. Here is a breakdown of my thoughts
EDIT in MAR 2021:
So I tested positive for COVID/19. I did not want my wife to get infected, so I moved into this bedroom (which doubles as my work/from home/office) for 2 weeks. I have to say, this bed is very comfortable! I slept very well during the time that I was in there. And the wife did not get the Rona, so all good!
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Quality of material: 4.5/5 stars / Its not hardwood, but I knew that when I purchased it. All the pieces were in good shape except for one small ding on the underside of one board. Its small and not going to be visible, so no big deal. We like the finish. Its a good color to match how we are going to finish the room.
Sturdiness: 5/5 stars / I realized when putting this bed together that it is meant to stay together once assembled. For example: The sideboards are bolted into the headboard, not set down in a slot. Also, each slat the mattress sits on is secured with a screw at each end. This also applies to the center bar running the length of the bed. It will require some time to take apart if/when we move it out of the room. On the other hand, there is no rattle, and it feels quite solid to an adult average/sized male. I am happy to sacrifice some portability for sturdiness.
Aesthetics: 4.5/5 stars / As I mentioned, we like the finish. I may end up staining the slats to match the rest of the finished wood. It will be less noticeable in the corners. Of course, putting bedding on will help, but I may do it anyway. If I do, I will update. Also, the visible part of the trundle bed when pushed in looks good in my opinion because it blends in well. Good design on that. Incidentally, the mattress in the picture is a
Beautiful and Sturdy. Great value and style! Sturdy and nice design! Assembly not to bad. My husband did it in a couple hours. Only negative was a bit of a smell. I got nervous about it and afraid I Wasnt going to be able to let me son sleep in his new bed on the Friday time but we out the fan of the highest it could go and opened the windows today on a cool day with wind and by dinner it was fine !!!
This bed looks and feels unstable. It looks cheap and I dont feel its worth the price. The trundle doesnt fit well underneath the bed so the trundle board sticks out. Also, the trundle board cracked a month after we installed the bed.
Overall Poor, poor quality bed.
