I really like it so far. Too early to tell how it will hold up over time so it would be premature to give it a 5. But, I was very impressed with the robust construction evident while I was assembling it.
This chair itself is great quality. The seat is deep for tall people and very comfortable for long days of sitting. I did have to contact the manufacturer because upon arrival there was a small rip in the top cushion. After a call to customer service and faxing of paperwork a new top cushion is being made and sent for replacement.
This is one nice chair. It comes shipped in many pieces, but is not hard to put together. It takes time but is worth the effort. I really like the leather. I think it use to be called naugahide back in the day, but its nice. And its very comfortable and sturdy. Im 250lb and it does feel very sturdy and secure. I can highly recommend this to anyone, big or small. It is very adjustable. My wife is 110lb and she likes the fit and feel too.
I bought this chair in 2015 and use it daily 7 days a week for the last 7 years. It does show some wear and the cushions have broken in, but Im sure it still has another year or more of service life. The leather on the right arm is starting to peal a little. The adjusting piston is getting weak. Not bad for a chair used at least 8 hours every day for the last 7 years. Oh, and I weigh 250lb. The price has jumped up 100 since I bought it, too.
One of the better office chairs Ive owned. Im 63 and around 300, and I have room to spare when sitting. The chair is generally very comfortable and feels well/made when you sit in it.
Only a few issues:
/There was a bolt floating freely in the box when I received it. Not sure if it was added after the fact, but could not have attached the arms without the extra bolt
/I use the chair for hours at a time for work and gaming (typically 3 hours each evening), and Ive found that the the foam inside the armrest is starting to break down after only a few months use. If you arent using it for hours at a time, you may be okay.
/Wish the lowest height was slightly lower. This chair sits higher at the lowest setting than any office chair Ive owned (wont fit under my desk when not in use).
The box in which the chair was shipped had a hole in it and the rollers were missing. After a phone call was made I had them 2 weeks later. The chair is very Comfortable and well built!
After about 18 years, it was time to say goodbye to my Naugybeast office chair, which I loved, but was developing too many cracks in the armor for my taste. Ordered this chair based on the reviews and description.
Pros:
1. This is a solid chair. To be clear, for those who think that the wood is from the bones of the Naugybeast, it isnt. They use some type of a hard wood and it is sturdy.
2. The leatherette (I think they call it bonded leather meaning that it is a mixture of leather and man/made materials) seems sturdy. The base, which has 5 hard wood legs could seriously hurt someone if flung at them. Again, solid.
3. The chair is a very comfortable chair.
4. Outstanding value for the
Cons:
1. This is made in China and shipped a cillion miles. Had a couple of nicks which I could live with. If the leatherette was ripped or torn, I would have returned it.
2. This is a TALL sitting chair. Even with the pneumatic post, the lowest position is about 1 shy of where Id like it to be. I have an awesome leather covered work desk with a center draw that I have to now sit up a little more upright for my legs not to be crunched. If youre nowhere near 6 tall, your legs will dangle and youll lose your power over other people. Im 61 and, otherwise it fits perfectly. (Addendum: Ive had the chair for a week and the foam does break in a bit. The height actually is pretty darn near perfect now!. Still 4 stars though, because of nicks that came with it.)
3. The back adjustment is by name, only. It doesnt really do much. Good news. You really dont need it.
A word of advice on assembly from someone whos screwed up many such gadgets in the past:
1. There is an L/shaped plate that comes pre/attached to the back of the upright portion of the chair. You will be attaching this plate to the baseplate that youve previously secured to the bottom of the portion of the chair. DO firmly secure the baseplate to the bottom of the chair before attaching the back portion of the chair to it. But, VERY LOOSELY attach the chair back to the chair bottom. This is where people are getting frustrated due to the holes on the arm rest not matching up to the sides of the chair back and bottom. There is intentionally a lot of slop built into the bracket that attaches the chair back to the bottom to allow you plenty of leeway to position the arms in place while loosened.
2. The screws come in a shrink/wrapped and marked cardboard sleeve. LEAVE the screws in this and take them out one set at a time only as you use them so that you wont lose track of which screw goes where.
3. Assemble this on carpet or bed or something soft. Enough said.
4. This is important: Again from previous experience, dont try to make/it/fit with the screws and threads. The worst thing that you can do is get the holes somewhat closely aligned then trying to use one thread with the allen wrench to try to pull it into place. This is the best way to strip the threads. If the holes are properly lined up, you should be able to use your fingers to tighten the screw at least 3 or 4 full rotations if you follow my instructions above.
5. Until you sit in this chair for awhile, the pneumatic post is just gravity fed into the base of the chair. Dont lift the chair up by the cushions without grabbing onto the base or it will fall off. After sitting in the chair for awhile, this shouldnt be an issue.
(Addendum: One week later, Im VERY happy with this chair, and you will be, too!
