I would have given this 5 stars but we had an issue getting one of the bolts into the barrel fitting that is provided. Tried for a long time and finally got out a flashlight to see why it wasn't catching. Turns out the hole that the barrel goes into wasn't drilled deep enough, so the bolt wasn't able to catch it in the right place. We had to take the barrel out and re-drill the hole another 1/4 inch deep. That did the trick! Just be aware that this may not be an easy item to put together.
This is a beautiful and sturdy bed. Me and 3 grand kids put it together maybe took an hour or less. Looks good solid wood construction. No noise or squeaking. Kids are from 3 through 15 years old, they have all slept on the bed and love it.
Good product, but assembly instructions could be better written. The sequence of steps given in the accompanying booklet is misleading. I had to disregard them after a couple of tries and make sense of how to put things together myself. The slats on the headboard and sides look good after assembly, but it is a pain to keep them all in place when assembling the bed.
I can't say how long these will last because I just bought them last week but they are sturdy and perfect for our kids. I have assembled tons of furniture and this bed was one of the easiest ones ever because parts are labeled and directions are clear. I'm starting my 9th month of pregnancy and I assembled 2 of these by myself but having a helper would make it even easier. It has plenty of room for storage underneath if you don't need to put another bed under it.
I was surprised how easy it was to put together. One suggestion, assemble it in the room you are using it in. I assembled it in the den and it wouldn't fit in the hall. I had to remove the arms to fit. I only wished the other colors came at the same low price as the white one did.
I am happy with the bed so far, particularly considering the low price, the finishings, and the good overall quality. Packaging was incredibly good, with all large parts individually wrapped in protective styrofoam paper. Instructions were easy to follow, though could be a bit confusing for first timers. Prepare to spend two hours from finishing reading the instructions to mounting the bed. There will be steps in the process that two people are needed, unless you have at least three hands... The only problem I found was the inevitable dislike between steel screws and wood... one screw got in so tight that the wood screamed so much I thought it was going to crack, another did not fit in well and was left a bit loose. The structure looks sturdy and I did not notice any loose or noisy parts. So far so good... I might come back update this review after the bed is actually used for a couple of days. By the way, although the slabs are pretty solid, I recommend buying a half-inch piece of plywood so that the mattress lays on a continuous surface.
