Ordered this twin bed w/ trundle for a small bedroom. Here is a breakdown of my thoughts...
EDIT in MAR 2021:
So I tested positive for COVID-19. I did not want my wife to get infected, so I moved into this bedroom (which doubles as my work-from home-office) for 2 weeks. I have to say, this bed is very comfortable! I slept very well during the time that I was in there. And the wife did not get the Rona, so all good!
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Quality of material: 4.5/5 stars - Its not hardwood, but I knew that when I purchased it. All the pieces were in good shape except for one small ding on the underside of one board. Its small and not going to be visible, so no big deal. We like the finish. Its a good color to match how we are going to finish the room.
Sturdiness: 5/5 stars - I realized when putting this bed together that it is meant to stay together once assembled. For example: The sideboards are bolted into the headboard, not set down in a slot. Also, each slat the mattress sits on is secured with a screw at each end. This also applies to the center bar running the length of the bed. It will require some time to take apart if/when we move it out of the room. On the other hand, there is no rattle, and it feels quite solid to an adult average-sized male. I am happy to sacrifice some portability for sturdiness.
Aesthetics: 4.5/5 stars - As I mentioned, we like the finish. I may end up staining the slats to match the rest of the finished wood. It will be less noticeable in the corners. Of course, putting bedding on will help, but I may do it anyway. If I do, I will update. Also, the visible part of the trundle bed when pushed in looks good in my opinion because it blends in well. Good design on that. Incidentally, the mattress in the picture is a
This is a very nice, sturdy bed. And its great value for money!
It had a few minor cracks in the wood, but nothing that wouldnt be covered with nail polish.
Its not very hard to assemble, but youll definitely need 2 people and a whole afternoon.
Great value and style! Sturdy and nice design! Assembly not to bad. My husband did it in a couple hours. Only negative was a bit of a smell. I got nervous about it and afraid I Wasnt going to be able to let me son sleep in his new bed on the Friday time but we out the fan of the highest it could go and opened the windows today on a cool day with wind and by dinner it was fine !!!
This thing was a nightmare and a half to assemble. Theres nothing keeping the stupid little peg things on the back and sides in place, besided these little foam things that pushed them out rather than keeping them in. One of the screw things was defective, so I couldnt use it to secure the frame in place. And the wooden dowels were super easy to break. The only positive thing I can say about this frame is that it is cheap, and has not yet collapsed. Buy this and you will dread putting any and all furnature together for the rest of your life.
This item is not difficult to put together if you know how to use tools. It is made of particle board/ plastic so it is extremely malleable. People that dont know how to put these things together, or have trouble with them are usually not people who put things together regularly or at all. Overall its sturdy enough for a small child forever. I laid on it for a while and I go 260.
Pretty easy to assemble, I would definitely recommend enlisting a friend to help. Its not difficult to assemble but a friend would help keep the side slats in place during the more finicky steps. A very attractive and sturdy finished piece, I am looking forward to having this for a long time. A lot of room for storage under the bed.
