Bunkbeds are a pain to put together, but it turned out sturdy. The hardest part was lining up the sides into the ends and holding them steady while we got the screws started. I did need a rubber mallet to get the dowels in in a couple of spotscouldve done it without but it made it a lot easier to start with even nubs.
I like the style of slatsthey lay flat and are held together with a wide ribbon of fabricyou have to pull them really tightly to get it stretched across the length of the bed.
Do not buy these if you ever plan to set them up as two separate beds. The wooden rails will not go into the headboard, and without using all of the rails over a dozen big wholes are left showing in the footboards. Also, the wood had small cracks in several places. I have splinters all over my hands, arms, and the floor of our kids bedrooms from the unfinished wooden slats. Im returning this set asap, wishing I hadnt ignored the other bad reviews. This was my last storckcraft purchase. (Instructions and assembly were very simple, for anyone worried about that.)
Update: Weve now owned this bed for nearly 2 years and it has held up very well.
I completely stand by my original review.
This bed is an outstanding deal! It was no more difficult to assemble than our furniture and a similar price point, but much better quality. This bed is actually made of solid wood. I read up on rubberwood before purchasing this bed. It is lighter and stronger than pine. The bed looks beautiful and is very sturdy. We had looked at bunk beds in several furniture stores. This bed is better made than any of the more expensive beds we saw in person. I love that the ladder is secured to the top bunk at an incline for easier climbing. My 5 year old alternates between the top and bottom bunk. She sleeps safely in either spot. Both bunks are great for play areas, too.
This bed looks nice but its made in Asia so the factory doesnt have very good quality control so as a result two packs of screws were missing and one of the headboards didnt fit together correctly. Rather than returning it I followed their instructions and called customer service /bad move they took a lot of my time then failed to send the missing parts. I ended up buying the closest I could find from the local hardware store. Also it takes a lot of time to assemble (compared to better quality bunks where you just bolt panels together). Finally there are no caps to hide the ugly bolt holes / much more noticeable being white ! So in summary its an ok basic bed if you want to save money and have a lot of spare time on your hands. But if you want quality and ease of assembly best look elsewhere
Love this bunk bed! My husband and I assembled it in 3 hours. The directions were pretty simple and the bed assembled very easily. My girls love it. Note two things though/ first/ the bed frame is about 4 inches longer than a twin mattress leaving a slight gap on either end. Second/ the ladder sticks out significantly. I would have preferred a ladder attached on top and bottom.
Just put the bed up and it went together pretty well. There are A LOT of pieces. I should have pulled everything out complete, removing the boxes from the room, before I worked on it. Once everything is out, its just a matter of grinding it out.
I was surprised with how sturdy the bed felt when put together. The only thing that isnt a tight fit is the rods that connect the top and bottom. Not that Im worried about them, but they are smaller diameter than the holes they fit into. So they are the only thing with the potential for a bit of play, but the weight of a mattress on top keeps it pretty secure.
Boxes are extremely heavy, so it was a doozy bringing them upstairs myself. Im not sure when the best time to transfer the top bunk onto the bottom is, but I picked a midpoint so I could do it by myself. I was a bit worried about the pieces flexing but it worked out alright.
If you have the space, I would build the bunks completely separately, as the cross slats for the top bunk were difficult to put in while it was on top. Luckily at 61 I was able to manage.
Enjoy the Video!
Will update as our girls use them!
