Good bed, Great Company - !

Great sturdy bed. It took about 2 hours to put together but it is worth it. My son used this bed for 3 years and it's held up very well. Never any issues. The ladder isnt great and tends to hurt bare feet but if you have another ladder or pad the rungs it's fine. (We used the swim noodles and cut them to fit. Worked great!) I had misplaced the instructions and emailed Customer Service simply asking for the Assembly Instructions for the Metal Loft Bed with Desk and within 5 minutes, Amanda emailed me both versions (with and without desk) of instructions. I was shocked at how fast and accurate their response was. I'd give 10 stars if they had that option to review them!

Good bed. Assembly instructions for shelving couldbe better.

Comes in two boxes. Heavy box has the bed and side rails. Went together good. Assembled by one person. 2nd box contains the bottom shelves. Pain to assemble. Holes didn't line up for the table portion but I was able to use a drill/screwdriver on the wood screws to make new holes and it worked fine. Instructions for accessories could have been written better. Had to loosen portions of the bed to get things to line up. Paint chips off very easily on all portions of the frame.

    Different from What's Listed

The bed I received is the loft bed with shelving underneath, not the one with the workstation. I like the bed and it holds my weight (I am an adult) just fine when I want to take a nap or read! It is a little wobbly, but it's to be expected. I fit a huge beanbag underneath and can lay comfortably there, even my 6'0 tall husband can lay comfortably in the space below. The desk is simple, so I just use it as a table to hold my printer and Xerox paper. It looks great and is sturdy for the great price!

    GREAT PRODUCT!

Only complaint if any is that assembly takes a little bit of thinking. I accidentally had a part or two facing the wrong direction and had to unscrew a piece or two to correct it. The manufacturer could have made the instructions a bit more obvious and clear to avoid this. For example, clearly marked stickers or points that let you know if parts are facing the right direction. However this small problem in no way changes how great this bunk bed is. I'm 6'0 225 lbs and have had no problems on the top or bottom beds. For the moment, to save money, I put air mattresses on top and bottom with covers underneath to avoid the rubber and metal rubbing noise. Not to mention the Price! Other vendors have this bed priced at $325 and above. Got it here on for a little over $100 less. I love .com! Will continue to shop as long as they provide great quality service! )

    Assembly tips

I just finished putting this together; my kids (8 and 4) are sleeping in it now (or at least lying in it). Overall, I think this is a high quality product and very reasonably priced. But as other reviewers have mentioned, it's a bear to put together. A few tips to make it easier: Think (and read) ahead! A lot of the parts are symmetrical, or at least appear that way without very careful inspection. Only after you reach a subsequent step that requires you to attach something else to two subtle holes in the middle of a large piece will you realize you put it together backwards. I did this several times, at different stages, which was really frustrating. It would help if they put some pointers in the instructions (as in, make sure side with holes is facing inward). The small bolts and the medium bolts are very close in size. Be careful not to mix them up or you'll end up without enough of one or the other. The washers stick together. Be careful not to use two instead of one or you'll run out. Tighten, but not too much! The screws can easily be stripped if you overtighten. Finally, the !$%$ plastic clips. These can go from infuriating to fairly simple if you know two things. First, the clips are not symmetrical; they only go in one way. The two vertical bars run all the way to what should be the bottom of the clip, but do not run all the way to the top. If you try to put one in the other way, you're in for a long afternoon/evening. Second, pliars. I know the clips are plastic and seem fragile. But your thumbs are fragile too, and there are a LOT of these clips to put in. Some of them snap in without much effort, but most of them were really tough. Only after my thumbs were about to fall off did I decide to risk pliars. Turns out the pliars worked great, as long as you're careful with them. They may scratch the paint a little, but I decided I could live with that. Result: thumbs recovering and no broken clips. In the end, the bed seems very solid. I climbed up on the top bunk to test it before letting my daughter up there. Felt very solid, even for me (I'm about 160 pounds). Good luck!

    Worth The Money...But time consuming

Okay so we took on two new babies and needed to change our current household from 3 children in a 4 bedroom to 5 children in a 4 bedroom. My two eldest boys were bunked up and my oldest son being 16 and quite tall needed a bed that could accommadate him comfortably, however my second oldest son needed something more his size which was drastically smaller. We looked for a twin over full bunk bed set and found a very reasonably priced one through and very reluctantly purchased it (bugdetary decision). Comparable beds were alot more money and I did want a metal framed bed because of the style of their room and I felt it would last longer and be more durable than a wooden on. I did not want a bed that would squeak and squawk with every movement or a thrown together contraption that would only last a year. Well once it arrived in a very narrow but long box I knew I was in for it...piece after piece...piece H, screw 8, slat M....on and on...oh I will tell you I had to step away a few times...it took me almost 4 hours to complete the construction of this bed. But mainly because I am not the putter-together in our home and I was excited about the project and wanted to do it alone. But if you take it slowly and pay attention to the very detailed and easy-to-read instrutions you will be fine. After we finished we were very happy with the end result as are my son's. It is a very nice looking bed but more importantly, well made and very sturdy. Given the amount of work it took to put it together I know that bed is very secure, safe and from what my son's have said since it has been up...comfortable. They are so happy with it and I am very happy I purchased it!

    Assembly isn't fun

My 11 year old daughter loves this bed, so I have to give it some stars on her behalf. She says her waist is too big and the opening is too small. That is her only complaint. It seems wobly when she climbs on it, but it doesn't bother her. She's about 120 lbs, 5'6 tall. Now let's get to my opinion. -The instructions suck. They are picture only, which would be fine if the pictures were better. They show the letter or number for the parts, but they aren't detailed enough to know which direction to make pieces go. It also switches between pictures where one picture on step 4 will show it from the front, then the next picture on step 5 will show the bed from the back. I ended up having to switch the 4 upright poles after it was 90% assembled because of this. - I can't imagine putting this together without a helper. I would say it is definitely a 2 person assembly. I had 2 helpers. -it is not reversible. Period. Make sure you are okay with the desk on the right and ladder on the left. - ALL of the screws are put in using a provided Allen wrench. By the time I was done, my hands ached from the hand turning with the Allen wrench. A few of the screws are in a spot where you have to turn a quarter turn, then reset your wrench. Super annoying. -overtightening is pretty easy. My super mom bod strength overtightened 2 of the screws which basically makes that fastened area useless. Overall it serves its purpose. I wouldn't recommend for bigger kids at all. Even the 70 lb 8 year old shakes it like cr
