Took a long time to put together, it took my brother in law and husband about 6 hours. The most time consuming part is tightening all the bolts with a tiny little allen key. Would be faster if they were screws. But oh well. The drawer and cabinet are cheaply made and the drawer is kinda crooked on the track. Despite these things My 3 year old absolutly loves her big girl bed. We've had it about a month and it is very sturdy. You get what you pay for, this bed is a super cheap deal, and a great space saver for a small bedroom. I bought the princess castle curtain to go with it and my princess has a cool hang out for herself and billion stuffed animals!
This arrived before the expected delivery date. My daughter was so excited! She absolutely loves this bed and the storage steps! My husband was less than thrilled about the difficulty of assembly. Some of the parts have holes, and where the holes are should be dimples around the holes, and no dimples existed. It took him almost 5 hours to assemble (and this is a guy who assembles everything quickly, has no trouble with the most complex assembly AND actually reads the directions). I would give it a 5, except for the difficulty assembling it. It is very very sturdy.
Great bed, especially for the price, and I love that it has stairs instead of a ladder. This is the perfect bed for my 3 year old, and because the price is reasonable if we decide to do something different in a few days, we haven't invested thousands or even hundreds in this set up. However, I really wanted blue stairs with the white wood, so we peeled the pink vinyl paper off the MDF pieces, sanded them down, painted it with Kilz, and then painted them blue. Now it's perfect. The box was damaged in shipping, as are many things of this weight, and several of the wood pieces were chippped and had a few dings. White appliance paint from the hardware store covered up the chips, making them hard to find now. After debating for months about doing an IKEA hack on one of their bunk beds/lofts, this ended up meeting our needs perfectly. Currently, my 3 year old prefers to sleep underneath (we strung an LED light string under it), so we added a 2nd mattress under there. We got a 7 foam mattress (to discourage jumping on the bed, which he was used to doing in his crib and toddler bed), and it works perfectly.
Took so long to put together. Some of the pieces didn't seem to fit well, but I managed. Had blisters after. So many parts. My daughter, who just turned two three months ago, LOVES this bed. We had a very easy transition to it from her crib. Bit of advice, get help when putting it together, it took me almost five hours by myself, and use a toddler rail if you're paranoid like I am.
Several points that are positive here:
1) It is completely sturdy. My five year old daughter in all of her rambunctiousness cannot disturb this thing. When looking at pictures I was a little worried about the steps as they didn't appear super solid. Those steps are SOLID, people! They have actually become her new time-out steps because they are secure until the end of time.
2) It takes time to put it together - my husband and I spent almost 4 hours - but the directions are clear and step by step. I would read the next steps and gather pieces. He would assemble. We did this over and over.
3) The height is perfect so that I can stand on the side (I am 5'5) and read a book while standing up comfortably. It is high enough that my girl can play underneath but not so high she is nervous.
Notes to know:
1) Having a ratcheting multi-head screwdriver makes this project so much easier. The instruction clearly states not to use power tools - probably because they are worried you will strip screws. But the ratchet made the job ten times easier than just doing this project completely by hand. They provide an allen wrench and they ask you to have a phillips head screwdriver, but truly the ratchet is needed.
Great bed. My daughter loves it. It was pretty easy to put together i had help and it took us a couple of hours. Everything was in the box. The directions were easy.
This bed is a great bed but,you better have plenty of time and patience to put this bed together. It has a lot parts and pieces. Other than that ,this bed is great once you get it together.

Cute, lots of parts, still worth the $

Cute bed for a young kid

Wish there was a quicker way.
