The stool is lovely, but it was missing some hardware. This could have been an issue to assembling it properly. My husband had to add some vital screws.
I dont really understand all the problems people have assembling this. I put mine together in maybe 15 minutes. They even give you the tools to do it. The instruction sheet was clear and concise. No screws were missing, or too long, or too short. No extra person needed to assemble it. Everything lined up. It works fine, but I will admit its not the most comfortable stool Ive sat on: The ring on the bottom is a bit too low (for me) for sitting for long periods (I start to get charliehorse in my thighs after a while), maybe a slightly taller guy than me (Im 5 9.5) may find it a better fit. But really, if you guys/gals have so much trouble assembling a simple thing like this, just go to a brick-and-mortar store and buy a pre-built one off the floor. Dont blame the product for your lack of ability!
Putting these together is really a 2 person job. Given that Im using them at a pretty rustic cabin so I can use a counter top instead of a table theyve been a cost worthwhile purchase. I wouldnt want to sit in them a long time, but in my situation that is very unlikely to happen. They are more sturdy than I expected, really. The instructions do leave a bit to be desired, but on my own I managed with some difficulty to assemble two in about 45 minutes. I think two people could probably do it in a half hour.
These are nice enough. My only complaint is that the screws come loose way too easily. We have many of these chairs and for a while had to tighten them up every week. We started putting lock tight on the screws each time we find a loose one and the problem is almost gone now. Once we get all the screws treated the problem will be totally gone. So if you buy these, get some lock tight and apply it to the screws as you go and save yourself the trouble. The loose screws is the only complaint. One comment, we ordered several and they came in two different designs. They look almost accidental but the assembly is a little different between them. One was very easy to tell which upright bar went in each location. The other was not so easy to tell and we got it wrong a couple times. So be careful when assembling to get them right BEFORE YOU LOCK TIGHT!!!!
I was blessed in marrying a woman who excels in figuring things out, unlike Yours Truly. Shes always assembled and hooked up our TVs, stereos etc. THATs the type of person you want on hand to assist in this project. It will all be be worth it because once assembled its a really nice barstool.

Too complicated to put together. But after assembled its fine
Good, sturdy stool to use in kitchen.
Well made and fits my use. I did add rubber feet on the legs to keep it from sliding on tile floor.
