This is a great way to make use of a tiny room. The storage space underneath is great! The bed itself is sturdy enough for an adult.
The only cons I have to report were:
1. the instructions were a little unclear. They are all pictures, no words, which is handy for people who speak and read different languages, but it would have been really good to have a little bit of explanation on a couple of the steps. However, I managed it all by myself over a couple of evenings.
2. The ladder and ladder/opening are pretty narrow. If you are an adult with hips, it is a tight squeeze.
But overall, I am very happy with how this turned out and it turned a tiny room into a really useful space.
Thoroughly pleased! My baby boy 5, loves his new big boy bed. The bed came in two boxes, one long one around 150lbs and a box for the desk, around 30lbs. I purchased the Clay.
I have been in search of a suitable bed for my child for a few months and I choose this bed for a few reasons
1.Solid wood, most of the contenders were not solid and had particle board, I considered the DONCO Kids Low Study Loft Bed, Dark Cappuccino for reference
2.Weight limit, this has a 400 lb weight limit that he can grow into and I dont have to worry about it breaking down
3.No Proposition 65 Warning
4.Neutral color, he has a dark wood chest of drawers and this fit in with existing decor
5.Desk storage included as he has a small room
It took two days for install, started on Sunday afternoon at 30pm, finished at 9pm, had whole bed installed except for desk. I took wine breaks lol. Desk installed next day and took 20 minutes. Only needed help to connect side rails, everything else I was able to do on my own because I am a beast at all things. All hardware/wood was accounted for before install and that took some time as well. Instructions (44pages) are visual only and very simple to understand. I only encountered two issues. Item 1A bookcase, I had to swap pieces 1920 as they were backwards. And I was not able to add one of the corner screws for the desk, hole mismatch possibly, did not want to force it and damage anything, left it be. Pretty sturdy. Due to it being in a temporary location until we move, I did not secure all of the wood slats on the bed frame, just the middle and more than secure. I also skipped the corner bracket install for the desk, its pretty solid and can do without. I opted for a 8inch mattress but it think you could probably get away with a 10inch. Also there was a light order from the wood/paint, it has dissipated in the past 24hours. No real damage to the wood, just a nick on one of the shelves and one side of the desk was slightly discolored.
Overall worth the 540, going to put a sheet over front so he can still have a little secret cave to play but this is a great buy. I would suggest this bed. I was pretty hesitant to buy as it had not reviews but here you go.
Put this up the same day it was delivered. I recommend just reading the directions and setting in areas of the room the different parts. Took about 35min to assemble. Wondering where I can get some extra screws as some stripped on the head? Would like to be able to use this again when we move of course. Also should just say the twin mattress width recommended should also be listed as the one we had is too thick, but luckily a new one is needed. If I remember to update this after we get a mattress that fits, will provide more info.
This bed would be above and beyond perfect if it werent for the horrible chemical smell that has yet to dissipate (its been about 3 weeks) the scent gives me a head ache its so strong Im forced to keep a fan going and the window open at all times ! Someone please give me some advice on what to do about this! My boys absolutely love the bed and it makes so much extra room for them to play. Its perfect besides this intoxicating smell.
I am a petite adult weighing at approximately 120lbs and the bed holds up pretty nicely. I just got the bed assembled 2 days ago and am still in the process of rearranging everything in my room so its a bit messy, but as you can see in the pictures I have so much more room and can put my shelves under the bed now. Hopefully I can come back and edit this review and upload a picture or two after I am done moving things around. Just waiting for a day off from work. Great purchase! Glad to have chosen this bed!
Some of the parts seemed missing when first putting together but it turns out they were elsewhere in the box, outside the partially opened hardware box. Also, one of the posts had missing drill holes which I was able to put in myself. Further, one of the screws it came with was not screwable (the slot for the hex key was engraved) and it came with no extra hardware for such issues.
The frame came packaged really well! All the pieces were clearly marked with stickers, the hardware was in a labled box, and everything matched the instruction manual perfectly. The diagrams and instructions were well written and easy to follow. You could probably put the frame together with the allen wrench provided, but we used our own because the bolts were very tight when screwed into the wood (which is one of the reasons the frame is so sturdy!). You will also need a Phillips head screwdriver, and a rubber mallet might be helpful for some of the dowels.
We put it together with 2 adults in a little over an hour. I think 1 adult could assemble it if they were handy. Our biggest problem was keeping it from sliding around on the carpet when we were first pushing pieces together. The glossy finish on the white frame is very slick!
We were pleasantly surprised how sturdy it feels, and how nice it looks! The whole thing is made from wood, not MDF or hollow core boards. The glossy white finish should be easy to wipe down for cleaning.
We think our 7yo will be able to use it for many years.
We liked that this was relatively easy to put together for 2 people, looks more expensive than it was. The instructions were clear. We advise having an Allen wrench on a power tool to make this much faster / dont use the tool in the kit unless you have no other option. Also, I would have left the box open on the porch for a day or 2 to off/gas the paint fumes before bringing it in the house. I did not let my daughter sleep on it the first night we assembled it because the smell was strong. She liked it so much that she really wanted to just sleep in the room with the window open to a 20 degree night.

Pretty good so far

Looks good
Looks good but is wobbly, needs tightened constantly and was a two man job to assemble.
So much more room now

Bad Quality Control on parts. Feel sturdy but a bit more wobbly than expected.

Perfect!
Really easy to put together. It looks great.

Sturdy wood loft, need to air it out a day or two
