Right out of the box, the first pieces in the instructions did not fit together. There was a large scratch in the head board part of the bed. The bed is coated with what appears to be a plastic substance, so we were concerned that the scratch would peal off the coating. The frame is not very sturdy, it would not work for anyone but a child. We are returning.
Only a slight glitch in the instructions.. (like failing to be clear on a certain step of what to do first, took a little to figure it out) but other than that, I put the whole bed together myself (and I'm 74) ... it is sturdy and so very attractive in the room. Love it !!
I have a queen sized mattress and box spring. However you dont really need a box spring at all (I just cant bring myself to toss mine plus I dont mind the height)
It was simple enough to build but some of the steps were unclear and one bar was slightly bent so had to hammer it to fit. Overall happy with the bed and havent had any issues with weight!
Overall, I was very happy with it. For the price point I got it at, it was worth it. Definitely takes time to put together if you are doing it on your own but it is a good starting point if you are looking for a bed frame with a headboard.

I love my new bed frame. I didn't assemble the bed but I observed and my friend didn't have any issues. I would definitely recommend this bed.
