If youre struggling with both space and quality, this is the item for you. I was not in a position to spend a 1000 on a bunk bed, and the bunk bed I bought before this one broke repeatedly. So, I really wanted a sturdy bed for my kids. The clearance between the bottom and the top is spacious, and therefore really opens up the room. It looks really good. It takes some back work to put this thing together, but once in a rhythm, you hardly notice it. At first the little plastic pieces that keep the bars that support the mattress in place were really frustrating, but once I got a few down in practice, no problem. I wish that the ladder was a little more accessible than it is considering the rails are so high on the top, but that is my only complaint. This bed does not make a sound and is as sturdy as a rock. I looked long and hard for a decent bunk bed, and I am very, very pleased. What you see is what you get in the finished product. This is a good, pleasing buy! Love the finished product!!
The reviews for this bed were 100 accurate. Its an excellent buy for the money, and is strong and durable. Its also a pain in the butt to put together (but really, who cares in the grand scheme of things?). Since this bed was purchased for 20/somethings, we didnt put on the side rails, so that is an option if you dont want them on, its the last step. Im pleased with my purchase.
This is an outstanding product, worth the medium price for the engineering. I ordered this based on a similar product I purchased in 1995, and the improvements in design are extraordinary. It went together much more easily, and has significantly better structure, including mattress support and headroom. (The packaging alone is a work of art.) Not cheap, but neither is it too expensive for what you get. It will definitely last. Really nice looking furniture.
Pros:
Practical, no waste of space.
Solid and well built. Limited squeaky noise when person on top bunk moves around.
Top bunk can fit an 10 thick mattress (we used a memory foam) with enough rail room (4 height) to not worry about rollout.
No bunky board needed (but I recommend it if you are using memory foam mattresses). We used half inch plywood and wrapped it up with saran wrap. It cost about 20 each (cut at our local Lowes) and provides a complete support, dont pay those over priced bunky boards.
Top bunk appears to be able to support at least 200 pounds with no problem.
Cons:
The rods on the ladder is really hard on the feet, although my kids said they were fine with them, I wrapped them up in half inch foam padding and that helps. The ladder runs straight up, not a slanted one like some others. This will cause you to put up more effort in climbing.
There is no entry point for the top bunk, you have to climb over the rails to get in. I dont quite understand the reason for this, most other bunk beds provide an entry point. This may not be a problem for kids, (mine were a little afraid at first, but adapt to it quite quickly) but maybe an issue with adults.
Other considerations:
No styling, but personally, I like it simple.
I have an 11 memory foam on the bottom. While sitting down, there is about a 2 head clearance (Im 54 tall). Since a persons height are not all in the upper torso, I think a 57 person sitting on the bottom should be fine. If you only use a 10 mattress, that is another inch.
I am no handy man, but I didnt find this bed to be too difficult to put up. It is time consuming, it took a little over 3 hours and I did have my brother helped me hold up a few things at times. Comparing this to another bunk bed we bought, assembly was a breeze.
We got the white one at 199 back in August because it was 50 cheaper than the black one.
This is the other bunk bed we bought, prior to this one, that I would NOT recommend:
[.]
Conclusion:
I removed one star because of the no entry for upper bunk and the vertical ladder.
My kids love this bed, but not as much as the other bunk bed, but that maybe because of styling.
It is simple, sturdy, space saving, and cheap. 4 qualities that I liked.
For 199 (at the time of purchase), I think this is a steal.
I highly recommend this. Happy with purchase
This is a good bed, very solid, safe, love that its a full size bed on the bottom and single on the top, great for having guests over with or without kids.
Im a very handy guy, i have put together more than a few particle board furniture pieces in my day, this was the most time consuming project i have taken on yet. It took me 4/5 hours over a 3 day span. Its a a great, good looking, cheap bunk bed, I also go a single memory foam mattress for the top bunk for 150, my 7yr old loves it and its SUPER comfortable. I would recommend this bed to anyone but BE PREPARED to put it together, that is its only downfall. Good product and definitely a value of a purchase.
I never know what they want me to say when they ask me to review a product. Either something functions accordingly or it doesnt. This bed is exactly as described. I have not had any problems with it. It was a pain to assemble but that was expected. It looks nice in our grandkids bedroom and the kids love it. The price on was better than anywhere I could find it, even locally, and the shipping was free. Cant beat that. Beautiful color good quality
Only complaint if any is that assembly takes a little bit of thinking. I accidentally had a part or two facing the wrong direction and had to unscrew a piece or two to correct it. The manufacturer could have made the instructions a bit more obvious and clear to avoid this. For example, clearly marked stickers or points that let you know if parts are facing the right direction.
However this small problem in no way changes how great this bunk bed is. Im 60 225 lbs and have had no problems on the top or bottom beds. For the moment, to save money, I put air mattresses on top bottom with covers underneath to avoid the rubber and rubbing noise. Not to mention the Price! Other vendors have this bed priced at 325 and above. Got it here on for a little over 100 less. I love .com! Will continue to shop as long as they provide great quality service! Perfect size and color for my needs.
Arrived on time , well packaged , moderately easy to assemble even for a novice, sturdy and handsome . When the foundation of the mattresses are assembled they are secured with tiny plastic inserts which I could not get into each slot , requiring the weight of the mattresses to do the work. Otherwise, perfect . I love it!!
Plan on at least three hours to build this bed. The instructions are fairly clear, but take a moment to make sure the screw holes line up or else youre bound to unscrew components that you previously assembled. There is a part where you have to put together the mattress support for the top bunk. The instructions make it seem painless and simple. I recommend using a hammer to insert these plastic snaps and even then it still is an incredibily long process and painful if you start using your hands. With all that being said.the bed is extremely comfortable and sturdy. A 200 lb guy slept in the top bunk and there were no scary moments. Good buy if you have time and a friend to help you build. Would definitely buy again!

Wasnt what I was looking for
I was looking for a futon bunk bed for kids and i almost bought this one thinking it was a futon on bottom. may be returning
No thrill but sturdy, highly recommended.
