Loved my first Hey Bike so much I purchased a second one so my friend could riding with me as well . Easy to fold and transport we go to Cali hill trails and the the bikes do very well on road and on the trails! Great bikes
Bike was easy to put together right out of the box, I will edit this review later to add photos but came on time with no problems. Bike drives great. My only problem was that the brakes were setup very differently on both bikes. On my white one for my wife, they came out perfect right out of the box. For mine they were horribly squeaky and I had to watch like 20 you tube videos on how to adjust them, or be left to wait to use my bike until I took them to a bike shop and paid more money. Of course, I said screw waiting and did it myself and they work great now. Would highly recommend this bike.
I had a weird issue assembling the bike but customer service did reach out to me quickly and helped by filming a video of what to do. That was great service.
Now that Ive gotten it assembled I gave it a couple test runs and it seems great. Doesnt feel cheap, feels premium except for one tiny detail which is the throttle, feels a bit cheaply made. The acceleration on this thing is nuts, are all e/bikes like this? Even on assist level 1 I was shocked at how quickly it accelerated. Both the pedal assist and throttle (no pedaling) feel great and speedy. Hitting 20mph is no problem (except uphill). Took 2 small trips totaling maybe 40 mins and the battery is still full. The LCD screen with backlight is very nice cause I do nighttime riding.
Ill post an update if I have any issues but so far so good! Im really enjoying this bike, it looks great and rides great.
Edit: Been riding it almost daily for a week now and no problems. It still rides like a dream and Ive gotten compliments on its looks too, its a gorgeous bike.
When we took the bike out of the box the front reflector was broken . I tried to email hey bike about and have not received a response. I hope nothing else comes up where I have to contact them . Very disappointed. I just wanted a new reflector.
This bike literally saved my life a year ago when a car pulled out in front of me on a rainy night. The fork took the impact and only had minor injuries. Highly recommend / they sent me new parts and was cruising in no time.
Also get yourself a full face BMX helmet!!!
Floods well for storage, rides fairly smooth, does suffer from bulk and fidgety levers. They can be hard to hold and manipulate and the bike needs tightened and adjusted more then youd expect but its not a huge flaw more an expectation in and electric bike that will be rattling down the road and over potholes at 15/20 mph. Glad I purchased ride it to work daily.
I have had it for a couple months and have put almost 600 miles on it so I think this is a fair review.
The bad/
It is a HUGE bike and is a little difficult to get on and off. Im 510 and in my 50s so I need a curb to get on/off.
Thats the 1 thing I dont enjoy about this bike.
Now the good stuff/
/ I use it to commute 9+ miles round trip to work and back every day.
/ It goes up to 27mph where I ride. Remember to adjust your brakes! Youll need them.
/ It is super sturdy. I am not worried that any part of this thing will break off or be damaged by any carelessness on my part.
/ Battery life is pretty good using throttle only but using pedal assist 2 almost triples the battery life! I weigh 286lbs and I can get 35+ miles on PAS2.
/ Charging after my 9+ mile ride takes about 90 min or so.
/ Big fat tires (and a cruising saddle) make riding a pretty comfortable experience. The front forks would bottom out so I locked them and never looked back. No more THUNK when going over obstacles.
/The headlight is bright, the taillight is very visible the horn is loud enough.
Overall this is a great e/bike. There is a learning curve though. Learning to shift through your PAS levels and adjust the shifter accordingly takes a few rides. Take some time in an empty parking lot or a field at a park to get the feel for it. If you practice just a little bit you wont go zipping out in to traffic like I did.
